The holy Martyrs Maximus, Quintilian and Dadas
The holy Martyrs Maximus, Quintilian, and Dadas were from Dorostolum (in modern Bulgaria) and were taken in the persecution of Maximian and Diocletian, about the year 303, at a certain property of theirs in a place called Ozobia. At night, while in prison, the devil appeared to them advising them to renounce Christ. They all gave themselves to prayer, each strengthening the other in the Faith. They did not attempt to refute the devil, or even answer him, but ignoring him and turning to God Who is mighty to save, they prayed fervently. And an Angel of the Lord appeared, giving them boldness. The next day, being sorely constrained by tortures to deny, they rather confessed Christ boldly. They were imprisoned and tormented again, then finally beheaded.
